Thank you Rebecca and Greg (volunteers) for picking up and stocking the shelves at the Ottawa Public Foods Pantry and Fridge today. This contribution was quickly taken up by needy Centretown residents.

While our focus is on ensuring that food doesn't go to waste, we sometimes receive donations that we use to buy food. Krista did that yesterday and stocked the shelves and fridge. Thank you Krista!

Since the fire last year, we haven't had the chance to put back our sign but it is back on now! Thank you Ottawa Community Housing!
We know it means "Ottawa Public Foods" even if the first word is missing...

There was a grand re-opening tonight! Thanks to all the contributors (volunteers, contractors, Ottawa Comminity Housing, Centretown Community Health, Glebe St James, etc) who made this possible!
This is a message from Ottawa Community Housing - OCH regarding the official reopening of the OPF Fridge and Pantry at 415 MacLaren (we have had a soft opening a few weeks ago) on November 20th at 4 PM.
Hello!
As many of you know, in the spring of this year, the Ottawa Public Foods Pantry sustained damage from a fire. Since then, community volunteers, partners, staff and local contractors have generously helped to keep food donations coming to the community and repair the damages to the structure.
You are all invited to join us for a reopening celebration of the Ottawa Public Foods Pantry as the community comes together to thank the generous people who helped to repair this important asset in Centretown. This celebration will be very brief at 4-5 p.m. on November 20th. Drop by and have a hot chocolate with us and bring a contribution for the fridge or pantry.
We invited and will be thanking staff from Carleton University, Bassi Construction, PuroClean, Xpertek Construction and Imperial Electric, Centretown CHC and many others from the community. Please share and extend this invite to any and all people who have helped bring this structure back to life!
Dress warmly, as we hope to meet at the Public Foods Pantry. We’ll have lots of hot chocolate. If the weather is not cooperating, we’ll meet in the ground floor lounge of 415 MacLaren.
Consider bringing any food donations to leave in the fridge or pantry.
Please join us if you can and looking forward to seeing you all in a few days!
OPF volunteers are also busy leading cooking classes at 415 MacLaren (thank you Elaine S. and Marisa R.!) with the cooperation of Ottawa Community Housing - OCH (thanks Gavin!). Yesterday, orange ginger pork with rice pilaf and apple crumble with ice cream were on the menu. Since there were not enough students to take all the results, the surplus was boxed up and put in the OPF fridge and pantry and didn't last long! Stay tuned for the next class.
Tomorrow will be a big day. Yes we plan to be open again after a long repair period. The crooked pavers in front of the fridge have been leveled and we are excited!
Here are some photos from a few days ago from one of our drivers with food from Centretown Community Food Centre. Thank you CCFC!

We are open again! Greatfully accepting donations and welcoming those in need. Here are some photos of our journey since the fire in May 2024.
